New Season of Womanhood: Grace through the Heat, Balance in the Change

It’s been a while since I’ve been active on here and blogging, and I’ll be honest — my focus was elsewhere, specifically on navigating these fascinating changes that felt like a big surprise. I kind of wish I had been more prepared or had more of a heads-up! But now that I’ve found some balance — after many appointments, lots of reading, podcasts, and conversations with fellow women — I’m here to share what’s been supporting me, and I hope this information is supportive to you and your journey.

Every-BODY is different, and in this new season I’ve not-so-gracefully stumbled into, I sincerely believe that one of the gifts is (finally) sitting back and listening to what our bodies need — discovering what truly supports us — especially if, like me, you’ve had a pattern of putting yourself lower on the priority list than many of the always-pulling outside factors over the years.
My recent journey of exploration into this new season of my life has included consultations with traditional and holistic doctors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, and wellness practitioners, as well as books like Susan Weed’s Menopausal Years and the Essential Oils Desk Reference.
What I share here is simply what has supported me — and may inspire ideas for you to explore with your own trusted guides, and most importantly, with your own intuition and inner guidance.

Many of you know that Young Living supplements have been the foundation of my healthy balance for the past 15 years. That’s when I began using Progessence Plus — and I basically couldn’t stop talking about it. It truly changed my life, giving me consistent support in keeping my moon regular and easing monthly transitions.
Here’s a video showing how I STILL use Progessence Plus, when and where I apply it: https://youtu.be/X0zcP8sd42E.
I used to joke that if the apocalypse came, this would be the number one thing I’d stock up on! (And I’m always stocked up!) Honestly, I was good with just that until about a year or so ago. And then… well, if you’re reading this, you likely know exactly what I’m talking about without me having to say it.

Until I “figured out” what my body needed in this new season, let me share what kept me sane at night in the meantime. I had actually begun panicking every evening about even attempting to sleep, and The Chilly Pad became my best friend. It runs cool water under the sheets at night, and it felt like it pulled the heat out of me, giving me at least some relief. It is pretty pricey and, honestly, I may have liked this second option that I discovered for when I traveled even more: this magical thing — The Cool Flash Pad.
Whoever created this should win a Nobel Prize for World or Inner Peace of some kind! I’m not sure what kind of gel is inside, but it activates when you use it and stays cool for about 20 minutes. Then I’d toss it to the side, and the next time I needed it, it would be ready and cool again. I started with the pillow-size version, which was super easy to travel with, and I almost upgraded to the full-body version — but then, suddenly, I didn’t need it anymore!
What I eventually “figured out” (for me — everyBODY is different) came after a bunch of trial and lots of error. I added daily EndoGize, which includes herbs like ashwagandha, DHEA, myrrh, cassia, and clary sage, along with FemiGen, which contains powerhouse herbs such as wild yam, dong quai, black cohosh, and clary sage. I also take PD 80/20, which I only use two to three times per week, even though the label says daily. That dosage was recommended by Dr. Purser, who helped formulate this blend as well as Progessence Plus! Together, these products have been instrumental in supporting my well-being and sense of equilibrium. I feel like ME again!

To complement these supplements, I use Clary Sage oil on my inner thighs and lower belly each night along with Super Cal at bedtime. That blend of vitamins D, K, calcium, and magnesium has been a great addition to my evening sleep hygiene routine — and if you don’t yet have a sleep hygiene routine, I highly recommend it. The Oura Ring has helped me hone in on what times were best for me, as well as showing me the effect that different foods or eating too late had on my sleep quality. Here is an old blog of mine with more elements you may like to add to your sleep hygiene routine: https://liveyourradiantlife.com/blog/25060/getting-a-good-night-s-sleep-at-home-on-the-road..

Alongside these, my naturopathic doctor and doctor of acupuncture have encouraged me to include an NAC supplement (this is an inexpensive Amazon brand Dr. Purser actually likes) as well as a good, clean fish oil supplement. I alternate between Dr. Purser’s line, Designs for Health, and Young Living’s Green Omega 3.

They’ve also reminded me of the importance of:
  • Staying hydrated
  • Decreasing inflammatory foods
  • Moving gently and often throughout the day
  • Prioritizing consistent rest (you can read my full sleep hygiene blog here)
While everyone’s experience is unique, these products and practices have supported my body in finding its natural rhythm, helping me welcome this season with more ease and balance.
